2010 SQUAD TO HAVE A VERY DIFFERENT LOOK

The 2010 BUKC season is set to be an interesting challenge for the Swansea Metropolitan University Kart Team. Not only are the boys raring to go after securing a best ever 2nd in the British Championship in 2009, but the team has a very different appearance for 2010 with long standing team members and captains Pete Cole and Oli Knights having moved on from university.

This leaves 6 current members in the team. Will Albrow and Shaun Dickson will be entering their 4th season in the BUKC, Lloyd Eveleigh and Will Wood are to enter their third campaign and the two new drivers from last season Sean Robinson and Daryl Henderson will be looking to improve on a strong 1st year in their second season. The wealth of experience in the team will be a useful ingredient in 2010 and hopefully the team will be able to add two new drivers to its 2010 squad who can bring home good points throughout the year.

The 2010 captain is Lloyd Eveleigh who enters his third season, and he is very optimistic that 2010 can be a strong one:

Looking at the boys who left in 2009, it would be safe to say that we are losing two very strong drivers. However it’s the same for every team in the BUKC and we must work hard to fill that hole. Everyone in the team is very good at what they do and all have finished in the top 3 at some point in their BUKC careers to date.

I would say we have a realistic chance of fighting for the BUKC title and it has to be the aim, given the consistent improvement over the past three seasons where the team has finished 6th, 4th and now 2nd. It would be safe to say winning the title would mean a lot to drivers past and present.

The team trials are important in October, we hope to get two new drivers that are capable of running at the front. If we can add to our already strong team then we can challenge from the first round. Luck always plays a big part in the BUKC but on pure race pace, we must be one of the strongest teams.

Above all else we need to enjoy our racing and I intend to make my final year racing for the university my best yet! What will be will be….’

The new drivers for 2010 will be revealed once the team trials have taken place in October.

If you are interested in taking part in the trials and are a current student at Swansea Met then get in touch or come and see us at the Freshers Fayre in September.
